Position Summary:
The Foote School seeks a talented, energetic individual to join its faculty as a middle school (grades 6-9) mathematics teacher. We seek to cultivate lasting values in our students and offer thoughtful experiences that inspire them to learn, lead, and grow in today’s world. The mathematics program at the Foote School reflects the values that are at the core of the school’s mission. We encourage our students to learn by doing, think independently, collaborate with their peers, and connect the mathematics they learn in class to the real world.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in both math instruction and experience working with middle school-aged students. They should demonstrate not only a passion for the subject, but also an understanding of the developmental needs of adolescents, along with flexibility, creativity, and a genuine interest in young people.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and present lessons.
- Prepare and administer regular and varied assessments of student learning.
- Complete trimester reports of students' learning and recommendations as needed.
- Communicate effectively in support of each student with their parents, advisor, and other teachers.
- Serve as a student advisor and homeroom teacher (if needed)
- Host a weekly Math Lab and support students outside of class
- May serve as an advisor (or co-advisor) to one or more student clubs or activities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in mathematics or a closely related field; master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 - 4 years of experience teaching middle school math, including advanced classes.
- A passion for learning and for sharing knowledge with others.
- An ability and a willingness to adjust instruction and assessment to reflect the needs of individual students.
- An ability and a willingness to teach at a level from Grade 6 through to Algebra II.
- Experience with integrating technology into a mathematics curriculum.
- An appreciation for independent school education and the middle school years.
- A commitment to professional growth and innovative thinking.
- A clear interest in being part of a community that seeks to challenge prejudice and is committed to diversity and inclusion.
- Strong personal and interpersonal skills.
